Grand Canyon trail maps

  • South Kaibab Trail map: South Rim, Very strenuous, 6.4 mi one-way, 4,731 ft elevation change. A dramatic ridgeline descent with no water and almost no shade. Iconic views from Ooh Aah Point, Cedar Ridge, and Skeleton Point.
  • North Kaibab Trail map: North Rim, Very strenuous, 14.3 mi one-way, 5,781 ft elevation change. The only maintained trail off the North Rim, descending from the cool spruce-fir forest at 8,200 ft all the way to the Colorado River.

  • Grandview Trail map: South Rim, Strenuous, 4.3 mi one-way, 3,488 ft elevation change. A rugged historic miner's trail dropping steeply to Horseshoe Mesa. No water, no facilities, so it's best as a day hike to Coconino Saddle.
  • Tanner Trail map: South Rim, Very strenuous, 7.0 mi one-way, 4,672 ft elevation change. Steep, exposed eastern route from Lipan Point down to the Colorado River. No water, no shade, and serious route-finding below the rim.
  • Boucher Trail map: South Rim, Very strenuous, 5.5 mi one-way, 2,336 ft elevation change. Remote and primitive. Connects from the Hermit basin out to Boucher Creek. Loose footing and dramatic exposure throughout.

  • Rim Trail map: South Rim, Easy, 3.0 mi one-way, 325 ft elevation change. Mostly paved and gently graded, hugging the canyon edge from the village out toward Hermits Rest. The easiest way to take in the rim views.
  • Widforss Trail map: North Rim, Moderate, 4.7 mi one-way, 305 ft elevation change. A mellow forest walk through aspen and spruce-fir on the North Rim, ending at a quiet point with sweeping canyon views.
  • Cape Final Trail map: North Rim, Easy, 2.0 mi one-way, 194 ft elevation change. An easy out-and-back through ponderosa pine to one of the North Rim's most underrated viewpoints.
